What makes skin look dull and uneven

Skin naturally sheds dead cells from its surface, but this process slows with age, stress and environmental exposure. When dead cells accumulate, they absorb and scatter light rather than reflecting it — giving skin a flat, tired appearance and a rough texture that makeup can emphasise rather than conceal.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — the flat dark marks left behind by spots, breakouts or sun exposure — also sits in the upper layers of skin. Without targeted treatment to accelerate its removal, this kind of discolouration can linger for months and contribute significantly to an uneven tone.

How skin resurfacing works

The Resurfacing Facial works by clearing the barrier that stands between you and brighter skin:

Chemical exfoliation

Carefully selected acids dissolve the bonds holding dead skin cells together, allowing the outer layer to shed and revealing the clearer, brighter skin beneath.

Microdermabrasion

A controlled physical exfoliation that buffs the skin surface to reduce texture, refine pores and stimulate circulation — producing an immediate luminosity.

Accelerated cell renewal

By removing the build-up on the surface, the skin's natural renewal process is triggered. New, healthier cells rise to the surface faster, improving tone and clarity over time.

Common Questions

What is skin resurfacing?

+

Skin resurfacing treatments remove the outer layer of dead skin cells to reveal fresher, brighter skin underneath. At Scure, this is achieved through chemical exfoliation — using acids to dissolve dead cell bonds — or microdermabrasion, which uses controlled abrasion to physically buff the surface. Both methods stimulate the skin's natural renewal cycle and produce a noticeably more radiant, refined complexion.

How does it improve uneven skin tone?

+

Uneven tone — from post-acne marks, sun spots or general discolouration — sits predominantly in the upper layers of skin. By removing those layers systematically, resurfacing treatments accelerate the fading of pigmentation and surface irregularities. With regular sessions, the skin's overall tone becomes more consistent and the complexion brighter.

Is there downtime?

+

Most clients experience mild redness or sensitivity immediately after the treatment, which typically settles within a few hours. There is no significant downtime — most people return to normal activities the same day. Aleksandra will advise on aftercare, including the use of SPF to protect newly revealed skin in the days following treatment.

How many sessions do I need?

+

A single session produces visible improvement in brightness and texture. For more sustained results — particularly for post-acne pigmentation or significant uneven tone — a course of three to six treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart, gives the most consistent improvement. Maintenance every six to eight weeks keeps skin looking its best.
